Schwinn Active 20 Series Recumbent Exercise Bike

Exercise bikes are great tools to get a good workout in on a daily basis and start losing weight. There are a lot of people who are not into doing high intensity workouts each and every night. With exercise bikes, you can burn calorie every day and gradually get yourself in a better shape. Unfortunately, choosing the best exercise bike is not that easy. There are plenty of models available on the market, and the differences between them are not that obvious. So you have to do some research to find the exercise bike trainer that works for you the best.

Whether you own a small home or just are looking for a specific type of bike, you will have to spend some time researching to find the best exercise bikes for your situation. Here are a few factors you need to pay attention to before buying an indoor bike:

  • Type: before picking up a bike, you need to figure out what type of bike would be useful to you. Do you just want an upright bike? Maybe you don’t have enough space and want a folding bike. As long as you know what you are looking for, you can narrow down your choices fast.
  • Action: do you want a single action or dual action bike? Dual action bikes are more intense and let you burn more calories, but they are not for everyone.
  • Brand: not every company can build a solid bike that will last you for long. You want to make sure you do your research on each company you are interested in buying from to pick the one that offers the best products.
  • Class: some exercise bikes are made for professional athletes or for commercial use. These have a few features that may not be that useful to beginners. Besides, they are more expensive. Make sure you don’t overpay for features that you don’t need.
  • Resistance: I am a big fan of air resistance bikes. A lot of people prefer magnetic bikes. There are real differences between these bikes. So make sure you know the facts before picking up a bike.
  • Dimensions: before picking up a bike, make sure you have a place to fit it in. I used to live in a small place and picked up a bike that I had no place to fit in. Having to return the bike and pay a 15% restocking fee was not fun!
  • Max Weight: if you happen to be a bit heavy, trying to work your way back into shape, you want to make sure your bike can support your weight. If you are above 300 lbs, you are going to be careful about your choice.
  • Weight: the unit’s weight matters as well. The heavier your exercise bike, the tougher it will be for you to move it around, unless your bike comes with wheels.
  • Warranty: it’s always nice to have a warranty on your bike just to be on the safe side. You don’t want to keep buying bikes every-time they break, now do you? More expensive bikes usually comes with 2-30 years of warranty on frame.

Choosing an exercise bike is not hard, but you need to take some time to choose the right bike for you. Doing some research never hurts especially if you are prepared to spend more than a few hundred dollars on a new indoor exercise bike. Comparing exercise bikes before buying never hurts.

I also recommend trying one out first before you buy – assuming they have a demo model set up. My husband bought one a few years ago and we seldom use it because it’s not very comfortable.
