How To Choose a Top Home Fitness Gym
March 12, 2010No Comments

There are a lot of people who don’t get a chance to go to a gym on a weekly basis. Whether it’s long work hours or not having a decent gym close by, the last thing you want to do is stop exercising altogether. You can always go for a run and get around that issue, but running is not going to build you strength. You are going to need a healthy diet of cardio, strength and resistance training to keep your body on its toes, burn calories and stay healthy for longer. That’s where home fitness gyms come in. They allow you to get your workout done from the comfort of your home without having to make a trip to a gym on a consistent basis.
Picking up a home gym is not that easy. After all, there are plenty of BowFlex and other top home gym brands that offer you very similar equipment. If you have a lot of space at home and the money to spend on an expensive home gym, then you won’t have too much trouble picking the best home fitness gym on the market. However, the decision becomes tricky if you have a tight budget or not enough space to fit equipment in your home. With that in mind, here are 7 factors you should pay attention to before buying a home fitness gym:
- Space: perhaps the most important factor when it comes to choosing a home gym. If you don’t have the space to fit your equipment, it does not matter how good it is and how many exercises it allows you to do at home.
- Type: not all home gyms are created equal. Some are designed for those who want to become stronger while others focus more on flexibility and muscle toning. Make sure you know which type of home gym you are picking up.
- Range of Exercises: some home gyms are capable of offering you only a handful of exercises. The top of the line gyms do enable you to work out more areas of your body and build a more well-rounded body. Don’t assume you can do everything with your home gym.
- Price: price usually wouldn’t be a top priority, but there are many of us who have limited budgets. In that case, you want to find the right balance between features and what you can spend.
- Durability: make sure you check the forums and read online reviews to find out more about the product you are planning to pick up. Unfortunately, there are so many manufacturers out there which just don’t deliver durable exercise equipment.
- Assembly: this usually shouldn’t be a big issue. But there are a few manufacturers that don’t include proper documentation with their exercise equipment. Assembling a large home gym without having proper instructions can be challenging to say the least.
- Customer Support: this is a big one. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen an attractive product only to find out the customer support behind it leaves a lot to be desired. Checking forums before picking up an exercise gym is a smart idea here.
There you have it. You can always compare the details and find out which home gym has more resistance among other factors. But the above factors are the ones you have to pay attention to if you want to get the best gym for your money. More expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better here.
