Why Can’t You Lose Weight?

Recently, I had a chance to read “I am so smart, why can’t I lose weight?” book by Brooke Castillo. It’s an excellent book about tips that you can incorporate into your everyday life to lose weight. After reading this book, it just hit me. Not losing weight is not always about not knowing what to eat or what to do, but rather having the determination to go ahead with a plan. I always compare eating food to being addicted to cigarettes. A lot of it comes down to shedding those bad habits. A lot of people who struggle to lose the weight find it difficult to change their lifestyle. Eating becomes a habit for them, and they can’t stick to their plans the way they should.

Another reason why people don’t lose weight is due to them having a “there is a tomorrow” attitude.  I remember when I was overweight and went to my doctor. I wasn’t overweight by much, but it was still significant enough for my doctor to tell me that I would die if I didn’t stop eating unhealthy food. That’s the attitude that’s going to help you lose the weight. If you approach weight loss as a life-saving measure, you are going to have more success with it. There will always be temptations. You want to eat more today and promise yourself to eat less tomorrow, but that never works. Having a balanced diet each and everyday is key here!

Just like those who are addicted to cigarettes, you should avoid giving into temptations. It’s easy to say, “I am going to have this piece of chocolate today and not have any chocolate for a month.” It would be great if you could stick to that plan. But in reality, that is a promise that is hard to keep. It’s always better to set a long-term goal and “celebrate” when you reach it. Recently, I saw a commercial on Iron Gym pull up bar on TV, and I decided to give it a try. For those of you not familiar with Iron Gym’s Workout bar, it’s an exercise bar that lets you do multiple workouts without having to buy any extra piece of equipment. I actually bought the extreme edition that supposedly gives you a better workout. This exercise bar is a push up, pull up, and sit up equipment all in one.

My Experience:

Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar was easy to assemble. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together. The directions that came in the package were clear enough, but you don’t really need too many directions to put the bar together. Installing the bar took a bit of work.  You want to make sure you choose a door that lets you maneuver easily once you put this bar up. Before I put it up, I was a bit skeptical about it being able to handle my weight. After all, the last thing you want to do is fall on your head when trying to do a pull up. But Iron Gym Workout Bar is very solid. I have been using it for a while, and it has been handling my weight easily.

I love doing crunches with this cool gadget. It’s easy to install at your door, and you can do crunches without needing anything extra. I did buy an exercise mat to help my back a bit. But that’s all. You can also use this for push ups. I do prefer the Perfect Pushup to this one, but if you don’t want to spend additional money on the Perfect Pushup, this will do.

Overall, Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar extreme edition is a great way to get a quick workout right at your home. It’s easy to install and is relatively cheap. Best of all, unlike other workout bars, it feels secure. If you are looking for a handy workout gadget, this is one you shoould try.

Hydroxycut is the latest pill that has been deemed unsafe by the FDA. It seems Hydroxycut damages your liver and could cause serious health issue for you. That’s not exactly what I would call encouraging for folks who have been using Hydroxycut.

Losing weight is not that easy. A lot of us gain weight gradually and the next thing you know you are 20, 50, or even 100 pounds overweight. Once you realize that you are overweight, you have got two choices. You can either give up and add another 100 pounds. Or you can work methodically to lose your weight. But I can’t say I lost weight with them.

Slim Fast probably has some of the best diet shakes out there on the market. I have tried some other ones that have actually put me in a deeper hole. Diet shakes are not magical. You are not going to lose weight unless you start counting calories religously and exercise more often. Some of these shakes help you get more vitamins and nutritions in your system but don’t ever put your hope in these shakes. Just as you shouldn’t rely on diet pills to lose weight fast. At the end of the day, you can always try these diet shakes for yourself but the best way to lose weight is by eating healthy and controlling your calorie in-take on an everyday basis. There are no short-cuts in this game.
